Tula, Mexico. Carved stone pillars on the Toltec Temple of Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli. The pillars are made of four sections tenoned together. Originally they supported the roof of the temple, but were found in pieces during excavations in the 1940s and reconstructed. In the background are Atlante figures with sun disks on their back.
