The Moorish style Basilica of the Virgin of Copacabana in the small town of Copacabana beside Lake Titicaca is perhaps the most important pilgrimage site in northwestern Bolivia. The original church was built between 1610 and 1620 and has had many additions to accommodate thousands of pilgrims.
