Brazil: Brasilia, the new capital of Brazil, was inaugurated in 1959. Buildings such as the twin towers of the National Congress building and its spectacular circular Federal Chamberas were designed by Brasilian Oscar Niemeyer to symbolise a modern, forward thinking nation.
