Brazil: Salvador de Bahia, the old colonial capital, has a lower and upper level, the Cidade Baixa and the Cidade Alta. You can get from one to the other by narrow, steep streets, by a funicular railway or by the Carlos Lacerda elevator, seen in this photo. Most of the old historic city is in the Cidade Alta. Close to the Lacerda in the lower level of the city is a fibreglass statue sculpted by Mario Cravo.
