Chile: Tierra del Fuego late 19th C.  Ona/ Selk'nam family. The Ona and other indigenous people of the region disappearedf aftr pioneers and settlers arrived in the 19th C. The indigenous people surprised the newcomers by their resistance to cold, as in freezing temperatures they wore little more than guanaco fur skins - and swam naked in the icy waters of the Beagle Channel.
