Colombia.    Lake Guatavita is about 75kms from Bogota and reputedly is the El Dorado lake where Chibcha chieftains dived covered in gold and left offerings for the gods of precious gems and gold. There have been attempts to drain the lake and some modest gold objects have been recovered.
