Suriname: some of the finest colonial wooden buildings are on Mr Lim A Postraat (street) in Paramaribo, the capital. Many were rebuilt in the 19th and 20th centuries after fires in 1821 and 1831 destroyed a large part of the historic centre of the city.

The inner city of Paramaribo is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
