Suriname. Fort Zeelandia in Paramaribo, and a statue of Queen Wilhemina of the Netherlands. The Fort was built by the British in 1651 and was then known as Fort Willoughby after Lord Willoughby of Parham (Suffolk). He was Governor of Barbados and colonised an area of Suriname for the British. It was later exchanged with the Dutch for New Amsterdam (New York).
